Volunteer Opportunities
BayKids relies heavily on volunteers to support our work. We have a fantastic team of volunteers that includes individuals from the Bay Area community and film students from universities and art institutes. Our college internship program enables students to receive academic credit (from affiliated institutes) for their work with BayKids.
There are many ways you can volunteer at BayKids, contributing the amount of time that works for you. To volunteer for any of the positions below, please send an email to volunteer@baykids.org and indicate your interest and area of expertise.
Video Editors
We need experienced Video Editors! Join our dedicated team of editors and use your creative and technical skills to enhance and finalize our youth-directed movies. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with local musicians and sounds artists, and contribute to our bi-annual film festivals and quarterly hospital screenings.
Production Assistants
Our volunteer Production Assistants work directly with BayKids' children in the hospital. You will assist children with a wide range of tasks, including storyboard development, script writing, prop design, and original soundtrack design. The role also involves preparing equipment, running the video camera, recording with a green screen, and teaching filmmaking techniques to kids and teenagers.
Event Planners
BayKids hosts public events to raise funds for our programs and to celebrate our kids' movies. As a volunteer Event Planner, you help plan the Annual Movie Premiere at the de Young Museum in San Francisco and the Annual Film Festival at Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland. You are responsible for researching new venue locations, soliciting food donations, coordinating volunteer efforts and preparing press releases to promote our events.
Graphic Designers
Are you an experienced graphic designer with a passion for community outreach? Join the BayKids' team and use your skills to help us create our movie posters. We need you to create eye-catching film festival posters, snazzy quarterly flyers and movie tickers for movie screenings.
Office Assistants
Do you have good organizational skills and enjoy administrative projects? Come help BayKids run smoothly at our headquarters in San Francisco's beautiful Park Presidio.
Visiting Artist Program
The BayKids Visiting Artist Program invites:
Local and national filmmakers, musicians and educators to visit the hospital and conduct single-day workshops with the children.
Professional filmmakers from the Bay Area and beyond to review our recent movie projects and provide constructive feedback and professional consultation to our volunteer editors.

Donate Original Music
We need original music for the BayKids movies! Be a part of our creative team and help bring life to the kids' movies by donating your original music tracks. For more information or to send in your tracks (MP3 format please) email us at baykidsmusic@gmail.com.

BayKids Editing Certificate - Awarded to volunteers who complete ten or more editing projects with our program.
BayKids Production Award - Recognizes exceptional volunteers who have worked with BayKids for two years or more.
